Pre-deposit factory check · China
Check the factory claim before tooling, deposit, or first production.
For buyers who already have a named China supplier and need a bounded fact check before money moves. Sephalis focuses on the supplier identity, manufacturing claim, payment entity, order-specific capacity questions, and the evidence gaps that still matter to the buyer decision.
The decision
You do not need another factory brochure. You need to know what still has to be true before you pay.
A polished website, marketplace badge, sample, video tour, or business license can each add useful evidence. None of them alone proves that the quoted legal entity will manufacture the order you think you are buying.
The purpose of a pre-deposit factory check is narrower: test the claims that could change the buyer's decision and keep contradictions visible before a commercial commitment.
What a bounded check may include
The exact scope depends on the product, supplier location, access, timing, evidence available, and whether specialist inspection or testing is required.
✓ Exact supplier legal entity and the role of any trading or export entity
✓ Business-scope evidence relevant to the claimed manufacturing activity
✓ Payment beneficiary name against the entity the buyer reviewed
✓ Site, process, equipment, or production evidence available within the agreed scope
✓ Capacity questions against the buyer's actual order rather than a generic factory profile
✓ Sample, product, or process evidence that can be compared with the intended production claim
✓ Material certification or document scope where it affects the buyer's decision
✓ Contradictions and unknowns that should remain open rather than be treated as verified
Stop before deposit
Some contradictions should pause the transaction, not become another follow-up note.
× Payment requested to a personal account or an unexplained third-party beneficiary
× The claimed factory role conflicts with the reviewed business scope or available process evidence
× A required certificate, report, or legal entity does not match the quoted product or intended use
× The supplier refuses to explain a material contradiction before a deposit
× The buyer is being pushed to commit tooling or a larger production order before the evidence gap is resolved
A stop signal is not an accusation that the supplier is fraudulent. It means the unresolved contradiction is material enough that the buyer should not treat the supplier as cleared for the next payment.
What you receive
A decision record, not a generic “passed audit” badge.
The output can separate confirmed observations, supplier-reported information, conflicting evidence, unavailable evidence, and the next check required before commitment.
The practical outcome may be: continue to the next check, hold payment until a named question is resolved, or stop and reconsider the supplier.
What this is not
It is not automatically an accredited social, quality-system, or certification audit.
Sephalis does not issue product certifications, legal opinions, laboratory results, or accredited audit certificates. If the order requires a specialist engineering review, laboratory test, formal factory audit, or third-party inspection, that need should be scoped separately.
Free pre-check first
Already have the supplier's payee, license, and factory claim?
Use the free buyer-entered tool to surface immediate payment-identity and evidence gaps. If the remaining unknown requires China-side checking, escalate only that decision.
Use this check when
You already have a supplier and one payment decision is approaching.
This path fits a named supplier, a defined product or order, and a specific pre-deposit uncertainty.
Use sourcing support when
You still need candidates, RFQs, samples, or ongoing supplier execution.
If the job is broader than checking one named supplier, a sourcing engagement may be a better fit than a narrow pre-deposit check.
